Tourism Funding Made Simple
The Greenville Tourism Commission is pleased to offer the TAG - Tourism Advancement Grant, and the TAS - Tourism Advancement Sponsorship to support impactful events that drive tourism in our community.
Not sure which program is right for you? Don’t worry we’ll help you decide in just a few easy steps.
Step by Step Application Path
Step One: Determine if you meet basic eligibility criteria:
Event Timing: Events must occur within the upcoming fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
Funding Cap: The TAG is capped at two consecutive years for annual events. The TAS may be applied for annually.
Post-Event Reporting: If awarded funding, applicants must provide a post-event report.
Step Two: Determine which application is right for your event or program. Use the chart below to help you decide what is best for your needs.
Important: per fiscal year, for any one specific event or program, apply for either the TAG or the TAS. DO NOT apply for both, or your application will not be considered.
Step Three: Click on the appropriate link and fill out your application. Application deadline: April 14th.
You’ve applied, Now What?
All TAG and TAS applications are carefully reviewed by the TAG/TAS Committee, which makes funding recommendations to the Commission. The Commission then votes to approve awards for the upcoming fiscal year.
Applicants will be notified of their application status in June. All funding is awarded in July. Funds will not be distributed early, in advance, or released prior to July, regardless of project timelines or circumstances.
TAG
If you are asking for general financial support to help operate or produce a new event or program, TAG is likely the appropriate choice.
The TAG distributes funds by evaluating deliverables through a grant review process rather than a marketing exchange.
A TAG request must include:
· A detailed budget
· Details on other funding sources
· Details on how the project will support initiatives that attract visitors, increase overnight stays, or enhance destination awareness
· A commitment to provide post event reporting on outcomes and impact in detail, ensuring that both entities, the organization and the commission, have plenty of data moving into their potential second year of grant funding.
If you are offering a true sponsorship opportunity that includes defined marketing, branding, or promotional benefits in exchange for funding, TAS is likely the appropriate choice.
A TAS request must include:
· Clearly defined sponsorship levels and costs
· A detailed list of benefits included at each sponsorship level (branding, advertising, recognition, etc.)
· Information on how Greenville Tourism will be promoted through the sponsorship
· Details about confirmed or anticipated sponsors and whether sponsorship levels are limited
· A commitment to provide post-event documentation showing sponsorship deliverables were fulfilled
Note: Requests that do not include specific, measurable promotional value may not be eligible under TAS.
TAS
Follow Up Reports
If you are awarded TAG or TAS funding, a Follow-Up Report must be completed after your event or season has concluded. Submission of this report is required in order to be considered for future funding.
Failure to submit the required Follow-Up Report will result in ineligibility for future funding through the Greenville Tourism Commission.
