The 2013 series will kick off with an encore performance by Seven Bridges: The Ultimate Eagles Tribute Experience. This band was chosen as a “Best of the First 4 Years” for the 5th anniversary season because of their popularity from last year’s line-up. Seven Bridges provides a stunningly accurate tribute to the music of the Eagles. Using no backing tracks or harmonizers, they faithfully re-create the experience of an Eagles concert from the band’s most prolific period. The show will feature Eagles hit after Eagles hit sprinkled in with some mighty Don Henley and Joe Walsh. This weekend is always special because in addition to the concert, the Twi-Light Drive-In Antique Car Show will be taking place on and around the square leading up to the performance. This year Greenville will be welcoming a new band to the Saturdays on the Square, The Nashville Blue Tones (NBT). This group is one of Nashville, Tennessee’s premier dance and variety bands. The Nashville Blue Tones are a nationally acclaimed ensemble that specializes in many genres, but for this event, they have customized a very special 50s/60s song list. Band members have performed with or recorded with famous musicians such as Roy Orbison, Barbara & Louise Mandrell, George Jones, Chet Atkins, Shania Twain and more!Come join us this weekend for a fun filled trip back in time to one of America’s most memorable decades! Tonight is reserved for all the gospel music fans out there! The evening will begin at 7:00 pm to allow for not one, but two of Gospel music’s best groups who will be returning as “Bests from the First 4 Years” for a special 5th anniversary performance. At 7:00PM Greenville will welcome Karen Peck & New River, a 3-time Grammy Award nominee and 2-time GMA Dove Award winning Southern Gospel group. In 2010 they stole the hearts of the Saturdays on the Square audience and they will be returning with songs featured from their 2012 GMA Dove Award Southern Gospel Album of the Year, “Reach Out.” At 8:00PM The Isaacs will be returning to the stage to feature their unique style that blends tight, family harmony with contemporary acoustic instrumentation that appeals to a variety of audiences. The Isaacs are a GMA Dove Award winning band in addition to being a Grammy and International Bluegrass Music Association Award nominated band. The “Best of the First 4 Years” continues tonight featuring Muhlenberg County’s own Mudd River Union (MRU). MRU is a band made up of six members with big country hearts and musical souls. The lead vocalists offer three very unique vocal tones that blend in a beautiful harmony. Following their win at Owensboro’s prestigious Big O Music Fest Battle of the Bands in 2011, MRU is continuing to grow in popularity across the region. They have performed the National Anthem at the Tennessee State Capitol and performed at the Grand Opening of Opry Mills mall in Nashville, TN. They were featured as the 2010 season’s grand finale band and brought their brand of rocking country to one of the largest crowds ever at a Saturdays on the Square concert, thus earning them their spot as a “Best of the First 4 Years.” These Kentucky natives have won three Country Music Association Awards, an Academy of Country Music Award and a Grammy. The Headhunters are also part of the 2013 class of inductees in the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame for their contribution to music in Kentucky and around the word. Come early to get your spot! Jamison Road features Muhlenberg County native Laurie Heltsley and the band got its start on a snowy night in 2010 when three friends crammed into a small storefront to play a few songs. Since that fateful night, the trio has moved from store front to front and center! They have become a regional favorite in the Cincinnati area and have played as far north as Lake Erie to as far west as California. The band is an unexpected and unconventional source of country that rocks, amid a sea of modern pop-country.
